Alteration n. 8

On the alteration 8 on the video the goal is to make the back panel fit closer to the back, why then take in the side seams instead of the center back seam?

This is an excellent question!

Taking in the center back seam at the waist will require you to fade your intake into the cross back area.

This will create a roundness on the upper part of the back.

A roundness on the upper part of the back must be avoided as much as possible.

Because when this roundness is sewn up and rested on the body, the body does not fill it up.

And when the sleeves are inserted, they will naturally pull across this area.

As a result, the roundness will collapse into multiple horizontal folds, giving the appearance of a tight back.

The best way to understand it is too sew up two convex seams and pull across it.

In the Alterations library, I will be able to give a much more sophisticated answer.
