First of all, I love the commenting format! Very original.

Secondly, while you certainly can do side vents instead, I don't recommend you do this with our pattern. Patterns behave differently when vent positions change. Remember that vents have areas where the pattern is left completely open.

This will allow the panels to hang differently on the sides or the back. Since the models are cut very differently, you may end up with a jacket that's well made but a pattern that is distorted.

If you're only doing it as an exercise and don't care about the pattern, I would suggest to make a sample. If on the other hand, your planning to follow the videos step by step along with our pattern, then I recommend to stick to the center vent.
