Tailoring board - composition and size

Hi Reza and Matthew,

I won't be able to find doors easily where I reside (unless I purchase one), so I may have to have my board made. I presume the wood could be treated to protect against rot, termites etc. but perhaps it should not be stained or varnished (do correct me if I'm wrong).

In the interest of cost conservation, can you suggest some non-hardwood options?

Is there a recommended minimum to the board dimensions? - This could help conserve on the covering fabric as well.

Many thanks,

Travis

In my resources I found information that the ironing table should be made of soft wood - poplar or lime. Dimension: 80cm x 140 cm x 0,5cm.

The recommended height of the table is 70 to 75 cm.

I now use an 80x120cm plywood top and for home purposes it is ok.
