I finished my very first suit!

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Reza for sharing so much knowledge and content with us. Without it, I’m certain I wouldn’t have achieved the result I was aiming for.

So, here’s the final product. I know I deviated from some of Reza’s guidelines and made a few mistakes along the way—at one point, I even had to start over, losing two weeks of work. But despite the challenges, I’m really satisfied and proud of what I managed to accomplish on my first try.

This suit was made for a friend who’s wearing it to an Antique Car Show. He was looking for a cinnamon-colored jacket and vest combo with a herringbone pattern, but couldn’t find anything that matched his vision. I offered to make the garments myself; all he had to do was cover the cost of materials, as I needed the practice. Also, this project took about five weeks to complete.

The fabric we found is a polyester/wool blend with the herringbone pattern he wanted. I started with a mockup to ensure a perfect fit and drafted the patterns myself, with the help of one of the textbooks Reza shared. Also for canvases, shoulder pads and other notions, I had to work with what I had in hand.

Lastly, after the suit was finished, my friend modeled it in a professional photoshoot. With my background in fashion photography, I couldn’t resist capturing a great shot, of course!

Have a great day, everyone! And just a side note—it’s my birthday today!
