Ham #1 - Oval Ham Finished

ree
First attempt at drawing a pattern with Seamly2d

ree
I've added more notches on the actual paper pattern to better match the parts

Using 5mm hard wool felt was more complicated than I expected. My linen was not as dense woven as I wanted, but still worked. Moleskin is a really pleasant fabric to work with.

The result was kind of bigger than what I thought it'll end up from the pattern - 43-45 x 28-30 x 15-18cm

Overall, there's something very satisfying in building your own tools.

It came as a surprise to me, how physical the process is -- especially stuffing the ham. It fitted almost 4x1kg bags of saw dust in order to get dense enough. I believe this is the toughest part of building the ham.

Finished, not perfect... Ham no 2... coming soon too.
