Hi Reza and Matthew,
I won't be able to find doors easily where I reside (unless I purchase one), so I may have to have my board made. I presume the wood could be treated to protect against rot, termites etc. but perhaps it should not be stained or varnished (do correct me if I'm wrong).
In the interest of cost conservation, can you suggest some non-hardwood options?
Is there a recommended minimum to the board dimensions? - This could help conserve on the covering fabric as well.
Many thanks,
Travis
Hello Travis!
My advice would be to make the board as big as your space allows. The bigger, the better.
Whatever wood you choose, it should not have any varnish on. Pure wood is best.
Don't choose super heavy woods. You will struggle moving your board from time to time.
Avoid water resistant MDF, cork or chipboard. Plywood can be a good option.
@Matthew Dirr Can you advise us on strong woods that are moisture absorbent, economical, light weight and fairly stable under heat and steam?
Thank you.
Reza
